The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS] in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The idea will serve the dual-purpose of proving super specialty healthcare facilities and enhance the number of doctors in the region. The plan will further assist to create primary and secondary level institutions/ facilities under the National Health Mission [MNH].
The new AIIMS center will be set up with an outlay of Rs. 1103 crore and will also consist of a hospital with a capacity of 750 beds, trauma centers and a medical college with an intake of 100 MBBS seats. Furthermore, it will even have a nursing college with an input of 60 BSc seats. The center will provide all medical and allied services broadly on the pattern of AIIMS-New Delhi.
In addition to the services offered, the new AIIMS in Deoghar will also comprise 20 super specialty departments involving 15 operation theaters. An AYUSH department with 30 beds will even be available to offer the treatment facility with traditional medications.
A good number of AIIMS centers have been established in multiple cities across the country namely, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Raipur, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, and Patna under the Yojna of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha. While the construction work for AIIMS centers in Rae Bareli, Nagpur, Mangalagiri, and Kalyani is underway, Central Government has sanctioned the plan of setting up more AIIMS centers in Bhatinda, Guwahati, Punjab, and Bilaspur.
