Pune University Introduces BSc in Environment Science

The Savitribai Phule Pune University has launched a new course, B Sc in Environment Science from this academic session and the admission for the same is open. Aspirants interested in this specialization of Bachelor of Science program can log on to the official website of Savitribai Phule Pune University [SPPU] or Pune University and apply online to pursue B Sc in Environment Science. SPPU will offer the 3-year undergraduate program in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science Education and Research [IISER] and University of Melbourne. The classes for the newly launched course will be conducted at the Pune University campus and the program will be taught and guided by a set of faculty experts from the IISER and University of Melbourne. While, the IISER faculty will be conducting the on-campus classes in the Pune University vicinity, University of Melbourne faculty would conduct the classes for B Sc in Environment Science online.

Admission Form

The B Sc in Environment Science will be organized over three years, just like other B Sc programs in regular mode. In the initial and sophomore year, the syllabus will broadly contain concepts pertaining to core sciences while more specialized aspects of Environmental Science will be taught in the concluding year. The admission procedure is underway and the application forms are available on the official website. Minimum eligibility criteria for B Sc in Environment Science course is class 12 pass in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or/and Mathematics as main subjects or equivalent from a recognized board or University.

The Pune University has also launched a new course in film study from this academic session. The one-year course is being offered by SPPU’s Department of Media and Communication Studies [DMCS] jointly with National Film Archive of India [NFAI]. The course will offer the participants with the opportunity to explore multiple aspects of mainstream and regional cinema, like history, culture and theory. It is largely aimed at students who wish enhance their careers in cinema or pursue doctoral program.
