Gujarat MBBS Quota Now Open for OCI NGRs

In the urge to limit the misuse of state quota in the admissions of Gujarat MBBS, State Government has made it compulsory for the aspirants willing to search for access to the paramedical and medical courses in the State, to enter their domicile certificates. The declaration was made by Nitin Patel who is Deputy Chief Minister. It was cleared that the children of non-resident  Gujaratis with Overseas Citizen of India card who possess a pass certificate in Class 10th and 12th Examination from Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or Central Board of Secondary Education affiliated schools in the state of Gujarat. They will be eligible for admissions in government quota also, excluding from the 15% NRI quota in self-financed Institutes.

The State Government officials further cleared that the eligibility of such candidates based on the fact that their guardians have to be born in Gujarat, irrespective of the birthplace of the candidate. Domicile certificate has to be submitted as a proof of their eligibility. Addressing the media personnel, Patel even has informed that aspirants willing to search admissions into dental, medical, Ayurveda, naturopathy and homeopathy courses will be evaluated on the scores of NEET which stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.

Further adding to his statement, Patel said, at the present moment, aspirants who appear NEET for the next time because they could not score well in the initial attempt due to several reasons, are not allowed to search admissions into the MBBS programmes. Such aspirants will now be allowed to search for entry into the MBBS programmes irrespective of the number of times they have to appear for NEET. The only basis of eligibility to search admission is to score well in their examination.

The State Government officials have even decided to set a centralized admission procedure for management and NRI quotas as well. Further speaking, the officials stated that candidates who have studied class 10th, 11th and 12th in science stream from Gujarat and even possess a pass certificate in the qualifying state board exams are eligible to search admissions into the medical courses in the state.
