About NHTET

  • “The method of recruitment of teachers will be reorganized to ensure merit, objectivity and conformity with spatial and functional requirements”
  • To overcome to the situation and to maintain the quality in hospitality education the scheme of National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test (NHTET) has been drawn up.

Brief of the NHTET Scheme

  • The scheme is to filter the best among the better to declare them eligible for Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates in NCHMCT affiliated IHMs and will be known as NHTET Scheme.
  • The scheme will be applicable to the citizen of India who fulfils the other eligibility criteria prescribed under this scheme.
  • The candidate declared eligible for Assistant Lecturer or Teaching Associates will have the only right to apply against any vacancy, if announced by NCHMCT affiliated any IHM, irrespective of either Central Govt. Institute, State Govt. Institute, PSU Institute or Private Institute. The NHTET qualified candidate will not have any right of automatic induction in NCHMCT affiliated any IHM.
  • They have to face a separate selection process for induction as Assistant lecturer or Teaching Associates to be conducted by the individual institute.
  • Any NCHMCT affiliated IHM shall not recruit any teaching faculty under direct recruitment against any regular vacancy if the candidate does not have a valid NHTET pass certificate.
  • Note: NHTET is compulsory to become eligible to apply for the direct recruitment posts of Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates in all the 59 IHMs functioning under the umbrella of the council, either the institute is sponsored by Central Govt., State Govt., PSU or by Private, since it made the part of Affiliation regulation.
  • Eligibility Criteria for NHTET 2019
  • Full time Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management after 10+2 form a recognized University with at least 60% marks with at least 2 years industry experience after obtaining Degree (or)
  • Full time Master’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/Hotel Management after Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration / Hotel Management from a recognized University with at least 60% marks either in Bachelor or Master’s Degree.
  • Candidates appearing in the final semester/final year exam of the master’s degree and have passed all subjects of previous year/ semester, and also having Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/Hotel Management from a recognized University with at least 60% marks, can also apply.

Age Limit

  • Candidates born on or after the following dates are eligible to apply:
  • General Category 30th September 1989
  • OBC Category 30th September 1986
  • SC/ST and PD Categories 30th September 1984
  • On passing the NHTET they will be allowed to apply against any vacancy of AL and TA (of which maximum) age is 30 years with relaxation for reserve candidates).
  • Selection Procedure for NHTET 2019
  • NHTET will comprise of following steps:
  • Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in NHTET for considering candidate eligibility for Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates in NCHM and its any affiliated IHM:
  • The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II, Paper-III and Aggregate of three Papers, to become eligible for both i.e. Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates, are as given below

GENERAL/ OBC

  • Paper I: 45 (45%) out of 100
  • Paper II: 45 (45%) out of 100
  • Paper III: 100 (50 %) out of 200
  • Aggregate: 200 (50 %) out of 400 

PWD/ SC/ ST

  • Paper I: 40 (40%) out of 100
  • Paper II: 40 (40%) out of 100
  • Paper III: 90 (45 %) out of 400
  • Aggregate: 180 (45 %) out of 400
  • The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II, Paper-III and Aggregate of three Papers, to become eligible only for Teaching Associate, are as given below

GENERAL/ OBC

  • Paper I: 40 (40%) out of 100
  • Paper II: 40 (40%) out of 100
  • Paper III: 90 (45 %) out of 200
  • Aggregate: 180 (45 %) out of 400

PWD/ SC/ ST

  • Paper I: 35(35%) out of 100
  • Paper II: 35 (35%) out of 100
  • Paper III: 80 (40 %) out of 400
  • Aggregate: 160 (40 %) out of 400
  • Step II: Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a detailed mark sheet-cum-certificate will be prepared and send to such candidates. The said certificate will remain valid for the period mentioned on it, to apply for a post of Assistant Lecturer in NCHM or any of its affiliated IHMs.
  • Step III: Those candidates who have not cleared step I, a detailed mark sheet will be prepared with a remark ‘not cleared’ and will be displayed in the web portal www.thims.gov.in.
  • It July be noted that the above qualifying criteria decided by NCHMCT is final and binding. However, the NCHMCT has the power to change the qualifying criteria if feel necessary and notify along with reason for change before declaring the result.

Scheme and Date of Test

  • The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held once in a calendar year. However, in case of insufficient candidates are qualified, the NCHMCT can hold the exam twice in a calendar year. The test will be held on a single day in two separate sessions as under:
  • Paper-I: First (1 hour from 09.00 am to 10.00 am) – 50 Questions; 100 Marks (each question will carry 2 marks)
  • Paper-II: First (1 hour, from 10.30 am to 11.30 am) – 50 Questions; 100 Marks (each question will carry 2 marks)
  • Paper-III: Second (2 hours, from 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm) – 100 Questions; 200 Marks (each question will carry 2 marks)
  • Paper-I, II: Negative Marking – ½ marks for each wrong answer or for double attempted
  • Paper-III: Negative Marking – 0 marks for the questions not attempted
  • The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided along with the Test Booklet
  • The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR Sheet will be mentioned in the call letter/ hall ticket

How to Apply?

  • Candidate should go through the details of the Brochure and see the requirement to fill the application form on-line in the portal thims.gov.in.
  • Candidate have to purchase a demand draft from any scheduled Bank for the requisite amount of application fee before filling up the form, since the DD number will be required to fill in the form. In case of filling wrong DD number, the DD sent by the candidate along with print out, cannot be matched by the system and such form will liable to be rejected.

Application Fees

  • 800/- for General/OBC categories (male candidates only)
  • 400/- for all female candidates as well as SC/ST/PD categories
  • (Through a demand draft drawn in favour of NCHMCT payable at Noida or Delhi)
  • This brochure is also available online at the website www.thims.gov.in
  • Candidate has to send the print out of filled in online application along with the requisite fee through a Demand Draft to reach NHMCT by 28th February 2019 at this address: NCHMCT, A-34, Sector-62, Noida-301209 (U.P.)

Admit Card

  • Admit card can be downloaded from the portal website. No printed Admit card will be sent by surface mail to any candidate. No candidate will be allowed to enter in to the exam hall without a print out of Admit Card and the original ID Card uploaded in the application form.

Important Dates for NHTET 2019

  • Apply through Online: 13th June to 09th July 2019
  • Last Date for Receipt of confirmation sheet along with Fee (DD):12th July 2019
  • Admit card can be downloaded from the Website: 15th to 20th July 2019
  • Date of Exam (NHTET July 2019): 20th 2019 in two sittings From 9.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
  • Uploading of „Answer Key‟ in By 21st July 2019
  • Time to challenge answers by the candidate by e-mail to diraf-nchm@nic.in Up to 25th July 2019
  • Expert committee meeting on challenged: Latest by 29th July 2019
